Salary: $14.10/ hr, maximum 37.5 hrs per week

The Department of Economic & Community Development (ECD) is focused on helping achieve Governor Lees goal of making Tennessee the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high quality jobs. ECD seeks to recruit new businesses to locate in the state and to assist existing businesses grow their Tennessee workforce. The department works with a diverse set of constituencies including businesses, local governments, other state agencies and regional economic development groups to equip Tennessee communities with business-ready infrastructure and workforce to succeed in the 21st century global business environment.

Job Overview:

The Creative Services Coordinator / Graphic Designer Intern will assist the Lead Graphic Designer and the Director of Marketing as the driving force behind Tennessees brand and user experience in reaching global business audiences. This individual will be assigned projects to build and manage visual touchpoints that support brand consistency across all marketing channels. The ideal candidate possesses the ability to artistically think and create outside of the typical box, has a polished and sophisticated style, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work quickly with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with concepting and developing ideas into visually compelling user experiences for all types of marketing materials including web pages, landing pages, sales collateral, presentation decks, digital advertising, newsletters, and event materials.
  2. Assist with overall visual aspects of advertising or media campaigns and assist with managing brand consistency.
  3. Assist with maintaining graphic consistency and brand appropriateness for all deliverables by reviewing and approving creative materials before launch
  4. Assist with concepting and executing creative materials required for annual conferences and events including brand identity, website layout, signage, agenda, stage design, etc.
  5. Assist with graphic material updates to the teams web designer for TNECD.com on an as-needed basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Must be a Junior, Senior, or Grad Level Student with a 3.4 GPA or higher pursuing a degree in graphic design or related field
  2. 1+ years of professional graphic design experience in a creative agency or in-house equivalent
  3. Must provide a link to an online portfolio that demonstrates compelling experience with campaign execution, logo design, typography, web layout design, PowerPoint templates, print production, or photography retouching.
  4. Hands on project experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Design Suite, InDesign, Photoshop and/or Illustrator.
  5. Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize against tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  6. Have strong collaboration skills and can work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Understand the principles in marketing and advertising
